Based on the topic, we have to identify 'how design turn us into a buying machine'. So, I went through some researches, and wrote a few notes and also did my own surveys. I got the responds that people would spend their money on the brand that catches their eye and meets their needs for freshness, sustainability, messaging and fun.
1. Eco-friendly Idea
According to the development of product marketing, designers expand reality and innovative materials for more environmentally friendly and smarter packaging. Nowadays, packaging design is increasingly taking into account the environmental hazards and waste. A reusable package or container is designed for reuse without impairment of its protective function. Reusability of packaging is an important credo of ‘reduce, reuse, and recycle’. It is also important to the movement toward more sustainable packaging.
2.Donation Idea
Consumers may not be able to make financial donations to charities and other nonprofits as they have in the past, but they will make a conscious purchase. The company’s activism “gives people another reason to say ‘I can support these folks because I know they are trying to do good as a business,’".
AND HERE'S AN EXAMPLE THAT CONTAINS TWO OF THE IDEAS:
There is Who Gives a Crap, a company founded to use eco-friendly toilet paper to build toilets for the 2.3 billion people around the world that don’t have access to this basic form of sanitation. Did you know 800 children die every day from diseases caused by poor water and sanitation? Who Gives a Crap does, and they’re trying to do something about it. This is a great example of a brand that uses its packaging design to promote the cause. They wrap their toilet paper with reusable paper tissue, and they advertise their social purpose right in the wrapper. The organization donates 50% of profits to the cause of increasing sanitation in third-world countries.
In my conclusion, consumers’ consumption due to packaging does not necessarily result in a waste of resources. Instead, they can indirectly help those in need through this method and their consumption needs. They/re not only increase production and help economic growth, but also encourage consumers to do charity.
Feedback:
Research on more examples of the topic, which is brands that do good with conscious buying. Then, compose headline ideas (at least 3 differently) and design with them.
Action plan:
Find some persuasive local/ international brands that are well-known. Later, look for the attractive headings that can educate consumers not only to buy because of their own preference but also helping others when purchasing.
