WEEK 4: REFLECTION ON FILM SCREENING - DESIGN DISRUPTORS

This film is about interviewing the top designers at the world's smartest companies, and also expressed how design has become the new language of business. I agree the saying in the video, 'only those who attempt the absurd, will achieve the impossible'. As they said, when you see something different from others, you are half successful. People who like design are all trying to contribute to new things through innovation and invention, and have the courage to challenge themselves.

The 3 aspects that I found useful to me:

1. Design is not to create beauty, but to create and give it meaning. Also, design must not only think of value, but also cooperate with business and technology. Through this we can also better deal with interpersonal relationships and get experiences. Like the example given, the designer had the concept of UBER company is because they saw all the cars on the road with empty seat, and worried about tipping taxi drivers. So, they can meet new friends and have conversations through the concept of carpooling without gibing tips but total calculated according to travel distance.

2. In the video, it tells about product designers are the problem solver to help others. It can be categorised into 4 parts, which are visual design, interface design (interact design) , ux design (experience) and product design. The most important part is to interview people what they really need and also collect user evaluations and results through statistical methods after the product has done. they have to design products and features that save users time. They suggested to create deadline of every design because it is wrong to wasting too much time on design and also don't let users to wait too long.

3. Before, everyone thought that they could be called designers only by using software, but now as long as they have ideas, they can be designers. A small tips that they mentioned design not only to solve the problem, but also to consider the future using the timeline. Good design is not designing products for yourself, more for everyone, and it is free of charge.

The 2 aspects relates to my project development:

1. The design should consider the emotional background, the given example is the 'high five' icon after you've sent an email, it's to reward your efforts to complete this. In addition, pay attention to the parts that should be beautified and strengthened, not all of the parts, otherwise the whole will not look special. Futhermore, the Facebook like and emotion function also are the best features, because it lets people make sure they are recognized by everyone. Therefore, a good design will have an impact and let people remember it.

2. We have to think strategically about your design based on the design ethic, because design is a great significance to the business and company. People are willing to invest and take risks, so we must show good results. Also, design is not an art, it needs to evolve, and competition is good for design, because it can present better products.

Summary:

In each design, we must understand what people need and then create products and services that meet their needs. The product must convey a message, for example, to the current social issues, so that it can be called a contributive design. Next, we also need to consider what can bring us happiness and satisfaction, which is the biggest meaning behind design, because we can live a better life through design. Another thing to study is that we have to create better products together to build and have a better future. We believe that as long as everyone's concept is consistent, there will be greater power to solve problems and provide better services for society.
