WEEK 11: PROGRESS OF INDEPENDENT PROJECT & EXTERNAL PROJECT

Independent Project

I will use a story to convey the information. The protagonist of the story is a female college student. She sees her mother who works in the design industry coming home from work getting sicker, and asks her mother what is going on. The mother and daughter chat and share their thoughts, and the mother says faced with unequal treatment in the company, such as wage pressure, lack of performance opportunities, pressure from public opinion, long working hours and inflexibility, etc., because she is a single mother. So through her mother’s personal experience, she put her ideas on the Internet, and wanted to pass a test similar to the practice, expressing that she should breathe a sigh of relief for girls and fight for welfare. After that, her posts have received many women’s approval and support after she uploaded it. Soon, more paintings and new ideas that let boys experience the day of being a girl are being shared too. In this way, it may convey to the public that women’s status in the workplace should be respected, so that men understand it’s not easy for being girls and that they respect and protect women more.

After that, I reshot the photos that needed to be included in the content because the previous ones were too common and lacked a fresh feel, so I asked my model to do more artistic and challenging poses to make the work more prominent, while also better expressing what girls go through in their daily lives. Also, the realization of pregnancy, I asked the boy to take pictures of him for a daily activities at home, like doing housework exercises, eating, moving, etc., to show the inconvenience of normal work and rest when a girl is pregnant.

External brief Project

Since the last draft of the banner design, the teacher asked to be more vigorous and bold, not to show common and boring content. So, I started looking for more posters about stop bullying women, and I got inspiration afterwards. I plan to use real portrait and objects photography to express my thoughts, because it will be more realistic, more suitable for women, and easier to understand. I drew an outline of the photos I probably going to take. I would find a girl to be a model, and her expression will look sad. Then I will treat the pregnancy test stick as if she is crying, and wanted to express that woman after having children, it is the beginning of nightmare, and the sanitary pad will use as mouth, written with the word "bitch", and want to express that everyday girls undergo physiological changes is not easy, and still have to face the work and social oppression, targeting, satire and bullying, and suffered these all kinds of setbacks are the problems faced by modern girls.
